Project Overview
- Title: Topographic Survey – MoHUP-Jabal Akdhar
- Location: Jabal Akdhar, Oman
- Reference: NEC-JAA-AT-TPS-001-009
- Consultant:WS Atkins International & Co. LLC
Objectives and Methodology
Conduct a comprehensive topographic survey covering 17.80 sq.km to support the development of a new mixed-use area at Jabal Akdhar.
Employ a combination of LiDAR and UAV RTK Drones equipped with Leica GS 14 GPS receivers to collect accurate terrain and feature data.
Process the data using Pix4D Mapper software to create 2D Ortho-mosaics, 3D models, DEMs, and 3D point clouds.
Scope of Work:
Perform a topographic survey over an area of 17.80 square kilometers.
Produce detailed site feature maps including elevations, using drone-based LIDAR surveying.
Safety and Performance:
The project was completed without any operational anomalies, adhering to all internal safety requirements. No safety incidents occurred during the survey.
Execution Summary
- Project commenced with site mobilization and benchmark transfer using RTK GPS.
- Aerial imagery acquisitions and photogrammetry were performed, ensuring data accuracy to the centimeter level.
- The survey was conducted from August 2nd to 18th, with additional areas covered from September 1st to 8th.
Data Processing and Quality Assurance
PDOP values were checked, and multi-receiver GNSS systems were used for error checking and data accuracy verification against established Ground Control Points.
Coordinate System and DeliverablesExecution Summary
For the topographic survey of Jabal Akdhar, the coordinate system selected was based on its suitability to the region's geographical characteristics and the project requirements. A combination of local and global coordinate systems ensured accuracy and compatibility with existing mapping and GIS frameworks. The system facilitated precise data integration and consistency across various stages of the project.
